Terraced Garden with Lawn & Gravel Paths

The slope gave the property views but no flat ground, and the existing planting had no relationship to the grade.

We broke the hillside into terraced levels — a kidney-shaped lawn at the center, gravel paths edged with river stone connecting them, and timber risers on the stairs. A birdbath anchors the upper level under mature trees.

The result is a garden you can walk through and sit in, with each level doing a different job, instead of a single unusable slope.
