A fence here has to give privacy without boxing in the yard. Lots are close together, so a neighbor can be a few feet from your patio, but most people also want to keep their light and views.
We build custom wood and metal fences. Posts are set in concrete, runs are laid out straight, and gates are hung so they stay square and keep latching. Sagging gates are the most common fence problem, so that detail gets attention.
Before building, we walk the property line with you to agree on height and material. Horizontal cedar slats are one option that gives strong screening with a more modern look than standard pickets. Small jobs are fine too. One Google reviewer had about 30 feet of shared fence done.

Who pays for a shared fence?
