French drains, surface drains, and regrading that direct water away from your foundation and prevent erosion.
Santa Barbara gets most of its rain in a few big storms, usually between November and March, and on hillside lots that water moves fast. When a yard floods or water heads toward the house, the cause is usually the shape of the ground, not the plants.
We start by watching where water goes and where it stops, then pick the fix. A French drain handles water collecting below the surface. Surface drains and catch basins handle open areas. Regrading changes the direction of flow. Pipe is sloped so it empties to daylight or to the street.

How do I know if I need a French drain?
Common signs are soggy ground days after rain, puddles by the foundation, or a slope where water cuts channels. A French drain deals with water that collects in the soil. If water is running across the surface, a surface drain or regrading may be the better fix.
Will drainage work tear up my yard?
Trenching does disturb the surface for a while. How the area gets patched afterward is part of the estimate, so ask about it up front.
